Kaya Skinner

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.—Kaya Skinner will tell you she loves the atmosphere here at Westminster. On the first day of orientation, she felt like she already had made so many new friends and loves all of her professors.

“Orientation was a lot of fun,” Skinner said. “I was able to meet a bunch of people right away when I thought it was going to take me a little while to meet new people.

Skinner is a first-year accounting major living in Shaw Hall. She’s from Oil City, Pa., and enthusiasm about Westminster comes from everyone she has encountered so far.

“All the professors here are so engaging. They want us all to succeed and do the best that we possibly can. I instantly felt like I could go to all of my professors if or when I need help. I also love the class sizes. It makes me feel more comfortable and feel like I can get a more one on one connection with my professors when I need help.”

The 18-year old is excited to start track here at Westminster. She ran track in high school and loved every bit of it. She explained she’s also excited to see the difference between high school track and college track. She’s hoping to learn a lot from her new college coaches and is ready to compete. Kaya told us that it has been nothing but a smooth transition to Westminster. She’s ready to take this semester on with a full head of steam and do the best she can with everything that she does. She said she’s nothing less than excited for this year and all the years to follow.
