Hi! My name is Lauryn, and I am from Lisbon, Ohio—a small town about 40 minutes south of Youngstown. I’m a junior this year, pursuing a double major in Accounting and Finance with a minor in Communication Studies. On campus, I am involved with Orientation Leaders and Emerging Leaders/Y2 Leadership. I serve as the current Vice President of Finance for Titan Guides, and I am a Peer Tutor for Accounting, Economics, Business Administration and Communication Studies courses. Additionally, I serve on the Planning, Budget and Institutional Research Council (PBIRC). Previously, I held the treasurer position for the Student Alumni Association and Lambda Sigma. I was also a Peer Success Coach last fall.
Over the summer of quarantine, I took a couple online classes and worked in an accounts payable position at my local mental health center. I also served a virtual internship with Cohen & Co, a regional public accounting firm. When I wasn’t working or expanding my knowledge base, I was relaxing by the pool with my family at my aunt and uncle’s house.
It is important for us to be “in the know” about what’s happening on our campus. When something important happens, we need to know the facts. Many of us are great at expressing our concerns and giving feedback for campus events and changes, and our administrators are great at hearing us. However, this feedback can’t be used correctly by our administrators if we don’t know the facts first. The Holcad serves as a great way to get the facts from a reliable source.
If any of you have questions, especially in relation to the new Coronavirus guidelines, please feel free to reach out to me through the "Contact Us" area on The Holcad website!
