plastic bottle caps

Members of Westminster’s ENACTUS chapter are conducting a bottle cap drive this semester in hopes of collecting 500 pounds of caps and lids.

Collected caps and lids will be used to produce, through Green Tree Plastics, a recycled product such as a table or bench. Collection bins are located in the TUB, Galbreath Dining, residence hall lobbies and various academic buildings. Acceptable caps include: drink bottle caps (soda, water, juice, sports drinks), medicine bottle caps, milk jugs and creamer caps, detergent bottle caps, hair spray caps, toothpaste caps, deodorant caps, apple sauce pouch caps, flip-top caps (such as ketchup), spout caps (such as mustard), spray paint caps, ointment tube caps, baby food caps and shampoo/conditioner caps.

Also acceptable are plastic lids from cottage cheese, yogurt, mayonnaise jars, peanut butter jars, ice cream buckets under 8” in diameter, Cool Whip containers, Pringles cans, coffee cans, butter tubs, cream cheese tubs and spice lids. Collection will run until early April. For more information, contact Carsyn Jack, Rianna Lyden or Keith Bittel.
