YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Westminster College men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened up their season at the Youngstown State Invite on Friday.
For the women, junior Erin Ward (Euclid, OH / Lake Catholic) set a new school-record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:18.20 to finish 10th in the field of 76 runners. Ward's time broke her own previous school-record of 2:20.32 that she set on March 3, 2019.
In other action, senior Katie Schrantz (New Castle, PA / Neshannock) placed 65th in the mile run with a time of 5:47.04. In the unseeded pole vault, first-year Emma Rudolph placed sixth with a leap of 3.52 meters, while junior Julia Strobel (New Castle, PA / Wilmington Area) posted a vault of 3.22 meters to finish 11th.
For the men, sophomore Amon Sams (Chantilly, VA / John Champe) highlighted the day with a 13th-place finish in the 60 meter dash with a time of career-best time of 7.11. In the 400 meter dash, senior Cole Keister recorded a time of 53.24 to finish 42nd, while junior Dalton Anderson (Butler, PA / Moniteau) placed 27th in the long jump with a leap of 6.19 meters. Freshman Hunter Linhart (Pittsburgh, PA / Plum) recorded a throw of 11.18 meters in the shot put to finish 51st and senior Austin Chin (Boca Raton, FL / West Boca Raton) recorded a mark of 11.66 meters in the weight toss to finish 39th.
The Titans will be back in action on Friday, January 24th when they travel to Geneva, OH for the two-day Spire Great Lakes Invite.
