GAMBIER, Ohio - The Westminster College men's basketball team won, 82-72, against non-conference foe Kenyon College on the road on Friday evening.
Westminster (6-3) grabbed a 43-32 lead over Kenyon (4-4) at the halftime break, leaning on senior guard Dylan O'Hara (Girard, OH / Girard) and junior forward Isaac Stamatiades (Elkridge, MD / Avalon) who each chipped in 12 points in the first half. Stamatiades and O'Hara were the only two scorers in double figures at halftime for either team. In the second half, the Lords mounted a comeback, snagging a 61-60 lead with 8:32 left to play. However, two possessions later, senior guard Preston Stitt (Boardman, OH / South Range) buried a three-pointer to reclaim the lead for the Titans. Westminster did not relinquish the lead for the rest of the contest.
O'Hara led all scorers with a game-high 24 points off of an 8-18 night from the field. Stamatiades also finished in double figures with 20 points and a team-high seven rebounds. The junior swingman was also a perfect 3-3 from three-point range and was 7-8 from the charity stripe. Senior guard Lloyd Chatman (Columbus, OH / Reynoldsburg) dropped a season-high 16 points off of a 5-6 night from the floor and was 2-3 from beyond the arc. Junior guard Daniel Ritter (North Lima, OH / South Range) earned seven points and snatched a game-high three steals.
The Titans shot 53.1% (26-49) from the field and 47.6% (10-21) from beyond the arc, while recording an 87% mark (20-23) from the charity stripe. Kenyon was 41.3% (26-63) from the field and 38.7% (12-31) from three. The Titans outrebounded the Lords 35-27.
Westminster will be back on the court Monday, December 16 when it travels to Waynesburg University for a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup starting at 5 p.m.
