LATROBE, Pa. - The Westminster College men's golf team won its third-straight tournament of the 2020-21 season with a victory at the Saint Vincent College Invite held at Latrobe Country Club on Tuesday.
Westminster claimed the title with a team score of 307 (+19), eight strokes lower than second place finisher and defending Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) champion, W&J. The Titans were led by senior Jonny Stuckert (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) who fired a career-low, one-under par round of 71 to top the 30-player field, four shots better than the next highest finisher and the first individual victory of his career (missed medalist honors on scorecard playoff three times prior).
Sophomore Sam Napper (Mt Pleasant, PA / Mt Pleasant) carded the next best round for the Titans with a 77 (+5) to finish tied for third, while sophomore Calen Cummins (Allison Park, PA / Hopewell) got around the course in 79 (+7) strokes to finish solo-sixth. Rounding out the counting scores for Westminster was graduate transfer Brendan Shaughnessy (Canonsburg, PA / Bishop Canevin) with an eight-over par round of 80 to tie for seventh.
Junior Michael Bell (Canonsburg, PA / Peters Township) finished tied for 16th place with a round of 84 (+12).
Westminster will be back on the course on Thursday, April 8 when they look to make it four straight wins, this time in the Grove City College Invite at Grove City Country Club at 1 p.m.
