GREENVILLE, Pa - The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Men's Golf Championships were scheduled to conclude April 25, but due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the PAC Presidents' Council cancelled the 2020 spring seasons on April 3.
As a result, the 2019-20 PAC team title and postseason award winners have been determined exclusively by the 36-hole results of the 2019 PAC Fall Championship, which took place Oct. 7-8 at Avalon Golf & Country Club in Warren, Ohio. The men played 36 holes at its par-72 Avalon Lakes course.
Westminster (613, 303-310) finished runner-up, the program's first second-place finish at the PAC Championships since 2005-06. The Titans had four top-10 individual finishers, the most since 2004-05.
Sophomore Michael Bell (Canonsburg, PA / Peters Township) paced the Titans with a runner-up finish with an impressive one-over score of 145 (74-71). Bell, who was tabbed First-Team All-PAC, tied for the best finish in program history and was the first runner-up since John Matune (2004-05). Bell's First Team nod was Westminster's first since Dave Mlinarich (2011-12).
Westminster first-year Calen Cummins (Allison Park, PA / Hampton) (76-78) and teammate junior Jonny Stuckert (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) (75-79) both tied for sixth with an overall score of 154 for All-PAC Second Team recognition. Also earning All-PAC Second Team for the Titans was Avery Andric (Lisbon, OH / Lisbon David Anderson) who tied for ninth-place with a score of 160 (78-82). Rounding out the finishers for Westminster was Connor Chirdon (Cheswick, PA / Deer Lakes) with a 17th-place finish (165/83-82). Andric also represented Westminster on the PAC Sportsmanship Team.
Bell finishes the season with a school-record scoring average of 76.60 (minimum 10 rounds), besting Scott Voelker's 76.94 set in 2002-03.
