Men’s Lacrosse: Titans Wrap Up Regular Season at Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Westminster men's lacrosse team lost, 15-7, at Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Grove City in both teams' regular season finale on Saturday.

Grove City (9-1, 6-0 PAC) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with 10:12 on the clock in the first quarter. Westminster (8-4, 3-3 PAC) responded with three-straight goals of its own to tie it, 3-3, with 4:20 left. The three goals were courtesy of sophomore Ryan Greer (Cranberry Twp, PA / Seneca Valley), sophomore Hamish Mathwin (Marion, Australia / Westminster), and first-year Payton Waight (Ithaca, NY / Ithaca) – junior Joe Rosa (Newton, NJ / Kittatinny Regional) earned a pair of assists during the Titan run. The Wolverines got the last goal of the frame and led 4-3 after one. Grove City started to pull away with a big second quarter, outscoring the Titans 7-1 and led 11-4 at intermission. The deficit proved too much to overcome for the Titans, despite outscoring the Wolverines in the fourth quarter, 2-1.

Waight led the Titans with three goals, his sixth game this year for three or more goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Connor Doyle (Glen Aubrey, NY / Whitney Point) collected a team-high six ground balls, while junior Mike Roman (Fort Washington, PA / Germantown Academy) tied a game-high with a team-best two caused turnovers. Greer also had a multi-goal game with two, while senior Nick Trella (Moon Twp, PA / Moon Area) added a goal. Doyle got the start between the pipes and had 13 saves in a complete-game effort.

The PAC Championship Tournament is scheduled to start on Wednesday, May 5.
