2020 Men's Tennis Preview

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men's tennis team, under the guidance of fifth-year head coach Dave Hayden, returns seven players from last year's squad.

Westminster junior Miguel Ascencio (Venetia, PA / Peters Township) leads the returners as he earned First Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) honors at number one singles last season, the second all-conference selection of his career and first First Team nod.

For the 2019 season, Ascencio led the team in singles wins (7) and doubles wins (5). Junior Alex Georgescu (Hermitage, PA / Hickory) had the second most singles victory with three. The duo of sophomore Noah Weiss (South Park, PA / South Park) and Ascencio registered the second-most doubles wins with two at No. 2 doubles.

The Titans were selected to finish fifth with 22 points according to the league's preseason coaches' poll. Ascensio, Georgescu, junior Alec Rich (Trafford, PA / Penn Trafford) and sophomore Logan Mannhiermer (South Park, PA / South Park) were named on the league's Players to Watch list. Rounding out the returners are juniors Blase Cindric (Hermitage, PA / Hickory), Colin Kelly (McDonald, PA / Canon MacMillan) and Weiss.

Westminster starts its season on Saturday, February 22 at Penn State Behrend with a 3 p.m. start time. The Titans' PAC-opener is slated for Thursday, March 19 against Geneva College at 4 p.m.
