Track and Field: Women Win Second-Straight Meet, Men Finish Second

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - The Westminster College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed in Geneva College's Golden Tornado Classic on Saturday.

The Titan women finished in first place out of seven teams for the meet with an overall score of 181. Leading the Titans with four victories was senior Selena Thomas (Farrell, PA / Farrell Area). Thomas took first in the 200 meter dash (27.09), the long jump (5.29 meters; personal-best) and 100 meter dash with a time of 12.95. Thomas was also a part of the winning 4x100 relay team with classmate Maura Belding (Columbiana, OH / Crestview), junior Haley Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) and first-year Jessica Fatigati (McDonald, PA / West Allegheny) with a time of 51.36. In the 5000 meter run, senior Katie Schrantz (New Castle, PA / Neshannock) finished in first place with a personal-best time of 18:36.64. Senior Erynn Daubenmire (Mentor, OH / Willoughby South) took first in both the discus throw with a throw of 35.15 meters and the javelin throw with a toss of 36.52 meters (both personal-bests). First-year Breannda Davis (Streetsboro, OH / Streetsboro) took first in the high jump with a leap of 1.52 meters and second in the triple jump with a mark of 9.50 meters (both personal-bests). In the pole vault, sophomore Emma Rudolph (Santa Clarita, CA / Golden Valley) took first with a personal-best vault of 3.61 meters. Senior Megan Parker (Mercer, PA/ Mercer Area) took first in the shot put with a throw of 12.44 meters and tallied a third-place finish in the discus throw (31.96 meters). The team of Belding, Moore, Fatigati and senior Erin Ward (Euclid, OH / Lake Catholic) also took first for the Titans in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:16.91.

The Titan men finished second in the team standings with a score of 99. Junior Amon Sams (Chantilly, VA / John Champe) took two first-place finishes in both the 100 meter dash with a time of 11:23 and the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.43. Senior Dalton Anderson (Butler, PA / Moniteau) placed first in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16:46 and placed second in the high jump (1.75 meters). In the pole vault, first-year Joseph Kurelowech (Erie, PA / McDowell) finished first with a leap of 3.85 meters, while junior Jonathan Micsky (Greenville, PA / Greenville) right behind with second-place finish (3.85 meters). Sophomore Ryan Beard (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) added a third-place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.73. Junior Jacob Musselman (Denver, PA / Cocalico) took third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 53.22. In the 5000 meter run, graduate student Evan Vent (Pittsburgh, PA / South Fayette) earned a third-place mark with a personal-best 16:42.52 finish. 

The Titans will next compete in the Thiel College Invitational in Greenville on Saturday, April 10.
