Waynesburg women win fifth-straight PAC cross country title

Bethany, W.Va. (pacathletics.org)--Waynesburg University secured its fifth-straight Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) women's cross country team title Saturday.

The league's five-kilometer championship race was hosted by Bethany College in Bethany, West Virginia.

Waynesburg's five scoring runners finished in the top 15 of the nine-team, 63-runner field. The Yellow Jackets totaled 40 points.

Franciscan University was the runner-up, finishing with 87 points and placing its five scoring runners in the top 29.

Geneva College was third with 105 points and was followed by Westminster College in fourth (125), Grove City College in fifth (127), Saint Vincent College in sixth (133), Chatham University in seventh (145), Bethany in eighth (157) and Thiel College in ninth (25). Washington & Jefferson College had four runners compete individually.

Franciscan junior Alison Bryant (Arlington, Texas | Nolan Catholic) earned the event’s individual title and PAC Runner of the Year honors after posting a winning time of 18 minutes, 27 seconds. The 2020-21 academic year marks Franciscan's first year as a full member of the conference.

Bethany freshman Nina Wilke (Esslingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany) was named the PAC Newcomer of the Year. She posted a time of 19:25 to finish in fourth place.

Waynesburg head coach Chris Hardie was voted the league's Coach of the Year for the sixth time in the last seven years.
