NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College Department of Athletics has announced senior team representatives for the David B. Fawcett and Marjorie A. Walker awards, along with the Team MVPs, for the 2019-20 academic year.

The Marjorie A. Walker and David B. Fawcett Awards are given annually to honor and acknowledge individuals who best exemplify the qualities of fairness, sportsmanship, leadership, determination and competitiveness.

Here are the senior team representatives for the Marjorie A. Walker (women's sports) and the David B. Fawcett (men's sports) awards, along with the Team MVPs:

Lauren McNany (Softball)

Athletic highlights:

All-PAC Second Team utility player. Team Captain. Three-year starter. Lettered every year. Tied for a team-high in doubles junior year.

Environmental Student Symposium Honorable Mention Poster. American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Phi Mu National Sorority, Special Events Chair. Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, PR Chair. Pre-Health Society. Colleges Against Cancer. Chemistry Club. Josie Toporcer (Volleyball)

Athletic highlights:

All-PAC Second Team Libero. Member of the 2019 PAC Championship Team. 2019 PAC All-Tournament Team. Team Captain. Westminster's 2019 WESPYs Female Unsung Hero. Led the PAC with 721 total digs, 11th in NCAA Division III, senior year. Successfully moved to the Libero position senior year. Three-year letterwinner.

Spanish, Psychology and Anatomy tutor. Titan Tour guide. Spanish translator with New Wilmington Presbyterian Church in the Dominican Republic. Volunteered at Shenango on the Green Senior Home. Emily Fromknecht (Women's Basketball)

Athletic highlights:

Four-time All-PAC forward. Four-year starting and never missed a start, starting in every game (108 total) since arriving on campus. Scored her 1,000th career point, becoming the ninth women's basketball player in school history to achieve the milestone and first since Titan Sports Hall of Famer Emilee Ackerman (2004-08). Finished career with a school-record 218 blocks, while ranking fourth in career rebounds (870) and eighth in career points (1,138) in program history. PAC Freshman of the Year.

Dean's List four times. Two-time PAC Academic Honor Roll recipient. Pi Sigma Pi Honor Society. VP of Administration and Director of Ritual for Alpha Gamma Delta. Neuroscience Club. Volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, Shenango Presbyterian Senior Home, and Fighting Hunger.

Katie Schrantz (Women's Cross Country)

Athletic highlights:

Two-time All-PAC selection, including First Team senior year. Multiple ECAC Division III South Runner of the Month honors. Won the Chatham Eden Hall Invitational (2019), the Grove City Twilight (2018), and the W&J Invitational (2018). PAC Runner of the Week and SAAC Titan Athlete of the Week recipient. Team MVP. Four-year letterwinner.

Other information:

Three-year (four total) PAC Academic Honor Roll. Volunteer with Special Olympics. Also holds school record in the 5,000-meter run for the track & field team.

Emily Marcus (Women's Golf)

Athletic highlights:

Four-time All-PAC selection, including First Team as a junior and Second Team as a senior. Member of back-to-back PAC Champions. Fired the third-lowest round in school history with a career-best 79 (+7) at the Westminster Invitational (Sept. 21, 2019). PAC Player of the Week recipient. Earned fourth letter. Also a starter on the Westminster women's lacrosse team who won the inaugural PAC Championship title in 2019.

Dean's List all four years. PAC Academic Honor Roll. President of Alpha Phi Sigma. Criminal Justice Honorary Society. Awarded the Criminal Justice Capstone Research Award. Pi sigma Pi Honor Society. Alpha Gamma Delta. Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President. Volunteered with 1-to-1 Youth Mentoring, Life Bread Basket, Meals on Wheels, and fundraising for Cystic Fibrosis.

Romie Schweickert (Women's Lacrosse)

Athletic highlights:

Four-year starter and letterwinner at the attack position. Member of the PAC Championship and NCAA qualifying team in 2019.

President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. President of Council for Exceptional Children. Dean's List. Pi Sigma Pi National Honor Society.

Kiki Kawarizadeh (Women's Soccer)

Athletic highlights:

Four-time All-PAC, including Second Team senior year, midfielder. All-Great Lakes Region Third Team and All-ECAC Third Team junior year. Team MVP first year. Three-year team captain.

Other information:

Two-time PAC Academic Honor Roll. Mortar Board member (National Honors Society for seniors). Presented three different Undergraduate Research and Arts Celebration posters. Received a grant from the Drinko Center to present research at NCUR (National Conference of Undergraduate Research) in Montana. Volunteered at Shenango on the Green Senior Home.

Abigail Jones (Women's Swimming & Diving)

Athletic highlights:

Four-time All-PAC selection, including First Team in first year. All-PAC Second Team senior, junior, and sophomore years. Member of the first-place 800 freestyle relay at the 2016-17 PAC Championships. Member of the 200 freestyle relay team who posted a school record time in 2017 (1:37.41).

Alex Marzouca (Women's Tennis)

Athletic highlights:

Three-time All-PAC First Team in singles. Two-time All-PAC First Team in doubles. Second Team All-PAC in doubles and singles (sophomore year). Achieved 100 career combined wins (singles and doubles). Her 58 career singles wins rank seventh all-time in school history, while her 43 doubles wins rank 12th. Multiple PAC Player of the Week honors.Two-year team captain. Team MVP junior and senior years.

Other information:

Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete. Westminster Entrepreneurship Center-Awarded membership two times. The Robert E. & Jane S. Lauterbach Academic Scholarship. Award of Excellence in Caribbean Examination Council for receiving perfect scores. Two-year Dean's List. Ann M. Kendlehart Award, Academic achievement & Potential. Helen Towner Davison Memorial Award, Academic achievement & Financial Need. Westminster College Blue & White Scholarship, for academic excellence. Manager, Campus Centre Management. Maura Belding (Women's Track & Field)

Athletic highlights:

All-PAC First and Second Team honoree. Member of the two-time, back-to-back PAC Indoor Track & Field Championship Teams. Was part of the winning 4x400-meter relay team at the 2020 Indoor PAC Championships that helped Westminster, who was in second heading into the final event, seal the conference title. Member of the winning 2019 PAC Outdoor 4x100-meter relay team. Four-year letterwinner.

PAC Honor Roll recipient. Also a four-year letterwinner for the Westminster women's soccer team.

Jared Lee (Baseball)

Athletic highlights:

Four-year letterwinner first baseman.

Other information:

Served as an orientation leader. Member of the Entrepreneur Center. Volunteer work at Don's Services. Key participant and volunteer in organizing Westminster Youth Baseball Clinics.  

Paul Gonzalez (Football)

Athletic highlights:

Two-time All-PAC First Team linebacker. PAC Player of the Week and D3football.com's Team of the Week recipient. Led the PAC in tackles junior year. Finished career with 236 tackles and 34.5 tackles for a loss. Four-year letterwiner.

Other information:

Has been a part of Westminster football's community service initiative, including the team's "Move-In Day" program - which helps incoming students move into their dormitories.

Dylan O'Hara (Men's Basketball)

Athletic highlights:

2019-20 PAC Player of the Year, only the second Westminster player to win the award, at guard. Multiple PAC Player of the Week honors. All-PAC First Team, D3Hoops.com Great Lakes All-Region Second Team, National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District Second Team, and All-ECAC Second Team senior year. Second player in program history to receive D3Hoops.com All-Region and NABC All-District recognition in the same season. Was only one of two players from the PAC to earn All-Region honors. Senior year led the PAC in scoring, averaging 18.2 points per game, and led the league in free throw percentage (82.4%). Career-high 36 points in Westminster's win over Geneva College on Feb. 12, 2020, which was the highest single-game scoring effort by a Westminster player in seven years.

Other information:

2019-20 CoSIDA Academic All-District Men's Basketball NCAA Division III District Four First Team, the lone conference player to earn this honor. Two-time PAC SAAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month. Volunteered with the Lawrence County Mentoring Program, Westminster's chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), the Down Syndrome Association of the Valley (serving Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania) and the Buddy Walk, a one-mile advocacy walk created by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome and to raise funds for local and national initiatives that support people with Down syndrome and their families. Other volunteer experience include Lawrence County Special Olympics, Salvation Army, reading programs at Seaborn Elementary School, and Westminster's Day of Service. Member of Mortar Board Senior Honor Society and the Kappa Delta Pi International Honorary. PAC's Academic Honor Roll twice and is a five-time member of Westminster's Dean's List. Two-time National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors court.

Evan Vent (Men's Cross Country)

Athletic highlights:

Two-time regional NCAA regional qualifier in cross country. Team MVP (2018). Three-year letterwinner. Also a member of the track & field team where he was named on the 2020 PAC Sportsmanship Team.

Other information:

Six-time PAC Academic Honor Roll. Six times on the Dean's List. Graduating Cum Laude. Sigma Phi Epsilon. Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative. Lambda Sigma Honors Society.

Avery Andric (Men's Golf)

Athletic highlights:

All-PAC Second Team (2020). Member of 2020 the PAC runner-up team, the program's first second-place finish at the PAC Championships since 2005-06. All-PAC Honorable Mention (2019). Medalist honors (first-place) at the La Roche Invitational (Sept. 18, 2018). PAC Player of the Week (Sept. 25, 2018). Led the team with four top-ten finishes junior year. 64 career birdies rank second all-time in school history. Two-round score of 148 (+4) at the 2018-19 Mount Union Invite is tied for 11th-best in school history.

Dante Serra (Men's Lacrosse)

Athletic highlights:

All-PAC Second Team (2019) midfielder. Member of the 2019 PAC and 2019 ECAC Championship runner-up teams. Totaled 115 career points and 94 career ground balls. Played in 45 games (32 starts). Four-year letterwinner.

Other information: ECAC Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Peter Mattocks (Men's Soccer)

Athletic highlights:

All-PAC First Team selection all four years at midfielder. Finished career ranked third in school history in both career goals (36) and career points (88). United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's All-Great Lakes Region Third Team (2019). Multiple PAC Player of the Week awards. ECAC Division III South Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. SAAC Titan of the Week.

Aaron Dunlany (Men's Swimming & Diving)

Athletic highlights:

Three-time All-PAC First Team selection. 2018-19 All-PAC Second Team. Member of two PAC Championship Teams (2016-17 and 2017-18). Seven-time PAC Champion. 2019-20 PAC Champion in the 500 free, 1650 free, 400 free relay, and 800 free relay. 2017-18 PAC Champion in the 800 free relay. 2016-17 PAC Champion in the 1650 free and 800 free relay. Member of the school-record 800 freestyle relay team (6:50.98) set in 2018.

Other information:

Dean's List twice. Gene Nicholson award twice. Mortar Board Senior Honors Society. Volunteer experiences include middle school swim lessons, Special Olympics, life guarded the New Wilmington Rotary Club Labor Day Swim meet, Night to Shine Special Needs Prom at the new life Baptist church, soup kitchen and trash & treasure at Boardman Methodist church, and Spruce up Youngstown for Youngstown Streetscape.

Miguel Ascencio (Men's Tennis)

Athletic highlights:

No. 1 singles every year. No. 1 doubles for most of career. Team Captain the past two years. Two-time All-PAC honoree, including First Team as a junior. Multiple PAC Rookie of the Week honors. Led team in both singles and double wins the past two years; 10 singles and eight doubles wins in 2018 and seven singles and five doubles victories in 2019. Back-to-back Team MVP.

Other information:

PAC Sportsmanship Team as a junior. Two-time PAC Academic Honor Roll recipient. Five-times on the Dean's List. Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete. Student-Athlete Advisory Committee member.

Tim Maxwell (Men's Track & Field)

Three-time PAC champion in pole vault: Indoor (2019, 2020) and Outdoor (2019).

Editor's Note: The Presidents' Council of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) cancelled the Spring season due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Therefore, Athletics decided to have each team select a senior team representative for the Marjorie A. Walker and the David B. Fawcett awards. Also, the following teams did not have an MVP due to the cancellation: Baseball, Softball, Men's Outdoor Track and Field, and Women's Outdoor Track and Field.
