NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Westminster College is asking 100 students to quarantine "because of potential exposure to COVID-19," according to a campus-wide email sent on Thursday night.
“The quarantined students will return to normal campus activities on September 11 unless they develop symptoms that would warrant testing. We are working closely with them to make housing, meal, and academic arrangements. The quarantine is a result of diligent daily self-checks, evaluation and consultation with the Wellness Center, as called for in the campus plan. This does not indicate a campus outbreak, but is an intentional effort to mitigate such an occurrence,” Vice President of Student Affairs Gina Vance wrote.
Vance continues in the email saying that the College is awaiting several test results. Contact tracing will be conduced if any of the students currently in quarantine receive positive test results. These students are also asked to inform their faculty members of their quarantine status.
