GROVE CITY, Pa. (Titan Athletics, Mike Boucher)- Westminster College sophomore Jonny Stuckert (Pittsburgh, PA / North Hills) finished runner-up at the Grove City MBA Invitational on Thursday.
Stuckert carded a 3-over, 75 to finish one shot back of medalist honors at the par-72, Grove City Country Club. Stuckert fired an even par score of 36 on the back nine to highlight his day to cap off the best overall finish of his collegiate career.
The Titans finished fifth overall in the team standings with a score of 328.
Freshman Michael Bell (Canonsburg, PA / Peters Township) posted an 81, finishing in a tie for 12th place. Junior Avery Andric (Lisbon, OH / Lisbon David Anderson) was right behind, shooting an 85 to finish tied for 25th. Rounding out the lineup for the Titans was freshman John Popa (Salem, OH / South Range) and senior Connor White (Gibsonia, PA / Pine-Richland), who came into the clubhouse with scores of 87 and 89, respectively.
The Titans also featured three players playing as individuals in the 66-player field. Sophomore Connor Chirdon (Cheswick, PA / Deer Lakes) was the only other Titan to post a score in the 70s on the day, shooting a 7-over, 79 to finish tied for eighth, notching his second top ten finish of the season. Chirdon’s 79 was also a season low. Sophomores Kolby Montgomery (Rimersburg, PA / Union) and Joshua Veon (Cranberry Twp., PA / Seneca Valley) also competed for Westminster, carding scores of 89, and 106, respectively.
The Titans will be back on the course Monday, April 15 when they hosts their annual Westminster Invitational at the New Castle Country Club.
