NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men’s lacrosse team defeated Earlham College, 28-2, in a non-conference contest Saturday afternoon. The game did not count towards the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference standings due to an unbalanced schedule.

Westminster (1-2) scored seven goals off 21 shots in the first quarter and held Earlham (0-3) to zero shots in the first frame. Sophomore Adrian Culp (Gaithersburg, MD / Quince Orchard) started the scoring barrage for the Titans just ten seconds in. Sophomore Chris Slater (Plum, PA / Central Catholic) added two goals and freshman Shane Fisher (Palm Harbor, FL / East Lake) added two assists and a goal of his own in the first quarter. Earlham got on the board at the 12:02 mark in the second quarter, making the score 8-1. Freshman Nick Trella (Moon Twp, PA / Moon Area) scored six minutes later, putting the Titans up 9-1. Westminster went into halftime with the same score. After a Serra goal in the opening seconds of the third, Earlham answered with a goal to make the score, 10-2, with 12:44 left to play in the third. The Titans would score 18 unanswered goals, including 11 total goals in the third quarter, to run away with the victory.

Fisher led all players in goals (6), assists (5), points (11), and shots (12), all of which were career-highs. Slater tallied a career-high five goals and tied a career-high seven points, while Culp and sophomore Austin Vanderhoof (Chardon, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin School) each recorded three goals, one assist, four points, and five shots, all of which were career-highs for Vanderhoof. Junior goalkeeper Carter Hall (Zeeland, MI / Zeeland West) tallied five saves in a complete game effort.

Westminster outshot Earlham, 63-17. The Titans also won 13 of the 16 faceoffs.

The Titans are back in action Saturday, March 17 at Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio for their ORLC opener. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
