PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Westminster College outdoor track and field teams competed at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational Saturday afternoon.
The Westminster women finished in third place, scoring a total of 121 points. The men placed fourth with 91 points.
Senior Katelynn Morrell (Boardman, OH / Boardman) highlighted the day for the Titans, breaking the school record in the women’s 3000-meter run with a time of 10:49.72. The record was previously held by Jenny Jones in 2014. Morrell also finished third and set a new personal-record in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:59.12. Senior Hailey Hall (Grove City, PA / Grove City Area) placed first in the pole vault with a jump of 11’6.25″ (3.51m). Senior Morgan Widina (Mayfield Heights, OH / Mayfield) finished second in the shot put (35’1.25″/10.70m) and sophomore Jay’Kayla Samuels (Farrell, PA / Farrell) placed second and set a new personal-best in the triple jump (31’10.25″/9.71m). Junior Nicole Cress (Saxonburg, PA / Knoch) placed second with a new personal-best time of 12.65 in the 100-meter dash, while first-year Selena Thomas (Farrell, PA / Farrell Area) finished in third-place (12.92) in the same event.
For the men, freshman Dalton Anderson (Butler, PA / Moniteau) placed first in the javelin throw with a throw of 174 feet and two inches (53.10m). Sophomore Tim Maxwell (Washington, PA / McGuffey) finished second in the pole vault (13’10.50″/4.23m). Sophomore Keanu Grice (Delray Beach, FL / West Boca Raton) placed third in the 100-meter dash (11.91) and Sophomore Austin Chin (Boca Raton, FL / West Boca Raton) finished third in the discus throw (133’10″/40.80m) Junior Jake Kaylor (Export, PA / Greensburg Salem) finished third in the 110-meter hurdles (16.52) and freshman James Kendall (Willoughby, OH / Willoughby South) placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet and seven inches (12.89m).
