PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A Drexel University fraternity under investigation for three reported sexual assaults has been suspended by the Philadelphia school for five years for alcohol violations.
Tau Kappa Epsilon already was on interim suspension as the university investigated reports of assaults at the fraternity’s house between April 28 and May 18. However, the university’s statement Thursday announcing the five-year suspension didn’t say the sanction was connected to the investigation.
Fraternity officials have said they’re cooperating with the inquiries.
A Drexel spokeswoman tells The Philadelphia Inquirer (http://bit.ly/2rVdz76) the school has also placed a second fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha, on interim suspension following allegations of hazing and alcohol violations.
The two organizations are among 15 fraternities operating at the university.
