CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Second-seeded Westminster College lost, 2-0, to top-seeded Thomas More College in the 2018 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Tournament Championship game on Sunday.
Seniors Courtney Cohen (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington), Kailey Liverman (Purcellville, VA / Loudoun Valley), and Jazmyn Rohrer (Purcellville, VA / Woodgrove) were all named on the All-Tournament Team for the Titans.
The only scoring in the title game came in the third inning when Thomas More’s Alix DeDreu doubled to left center field, scoring Laura Finke and Sammy Sagers.
Rohrer (20-5) pitched the whole game, while giving up two runs on six hits. Rohrer struck out seven and walked one.
The Saints held the Titans to three hits. Seniors Addie Dieterich (Purcellville, VA / Loudoun Valley), Alexa Owrey (New Castle, PA / Shenango), and Nikki Anderson (Oakmont, PA / Riverview) each had a hit for Westminster. The Titans had a runner on second in the first and fifth innings, but were unable to bring them around any farther.
Westminster, who has qualified for the PAC Tournament 12 times in the 15 years it has been eligible for the PAC Title, has now played in four championship games.
Thomas More (31-14) has qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Westminster (27-9) will find out on Monday, May 7 if it has received a bid to compete in the Division III Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Tournament.
