NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (WCN247)- The mystery location for some of the participants of the Spring Break with a Purpose trip has been revealed as Athens, Georgia!
Students had to choose to make their deposits before they even knew what their destination was. They also were given little to no hints as to its location.
Participant Patrick Raymond is looking forward to experiencing Georgia.
“I’ve never actually been to a place like that,” he says, “So that’s exciting for me. (They have a) very different culture then us “northerners” up here, so I’m excited for that. I think it’s a really good hand that we were dealt.”
Raymond speculated that it was in the Appalachians, as he believes that there is a lot of need for service. However, he thinks that Athens suffers from poverty; so, the residents there need just as much help. He said other students guessed multiple different cities.
The people in charge, The Office of Faith and Spirituality and Habitat for Humanity, had reveal the location in due time, so that the students would know what to pack and prepare for.
No matter what destination a Spring Break with a Purpose trip is headed for, Raymond highly recommends them.
“I’ve gone every spring break since freshman year, and it was the best decision that I’ve made…” he says, “…what I’ve noticed is, people who do it their senior or junior year, the only thing that they’re upset about is that they didn’t start earlier. They only had one opportunity to do it…it’s a great decision, so do it!”
