Snow, sleet and freezing rain in forecast prompting winter weather advisory

PITTSBURGH– The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY in effect from 3 a.m. Thursday to 7 p.m.

Snow will start after midnight on Thursday morning with some accumulation before dawn.  Thursday morning could see snow and freezing rain.  Then change over to rain and sleet before it turns back to freezing rain in the afternoon.  Forecasters are predicting snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 2 inches.  Ice could accumulate on some surfaces up to a tenth of an inch. 

THURSDAY NIGHT: Snow with a chance of freezing rain in the evening, then snow likely after midnight. Additional snow accumulation around an inch. Ice accumulation around a trace. Near steady temperature in the lower 30s. Chance of precipitation 90 percent.
