NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Titan Athletics)– The Westminster College volleyball team won its 10th-straight match with a sweep over Waynesburg University in Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) action at home Wednesday night.

Westminster (14-1, 2-0 PAC) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in set one. The Titans had a double-digit lead, 14-4, before going on a 9-3 run to take a commanding 23-7 lead and win set one, 25-9. Waynesburg (1-11, 0-4 PAC) had an early 4-3 lead in set two. The Titans responded with a 4-0 run, capped off with a kill by PAC Volleyball Rookie of the Week Maya Steward (Los Angeles, CA / William Howard Taft), and led 7-4. The Yellow Jackets got within one point of Westminster’s lead, 16-15, however that would be the closest they would get in the frame as the Titans closed out the set with a 9-3 run for a 25-18 set two victory. The Titans were down 7-5 in the third set, but orchestrated a 7-0 run, capped off with another kill by Steward and led 12-7. The Titans added another run, 7-3, to go up 19-10 and finished strong with a 25-13 match-deciding set three victory.

Junior Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John) led the Titan offense with a match-high 10 kills. First-year Becky Adelman (Mogadore, OH / Waterloo) and senior Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) each totaled seven kills. Senior Shanna Daniels (Hermitage, PA / Billy C. Ryan) registered a match-high 14 assists, while first-year Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford) earned 11. DeGeorge and senior Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) each finished with 11 digs, which tied a team-high. Junior Haley Farmerie (Manor, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) tallied a match-best five blocks.

The Titans will next compete at Washington & Jefferson College’s tri-match on Saturday, September 22. Westminster will play W&J at 11 a.m. and Thiel at 1 p.m.
