ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Westminster College men’s and women’s indoor track & field teams competed in the University of Mount Union’s Wuske Invitational on Saturday.
For the men’s team, sophomore Evan Lesnick (Oakmont, PA / Riverview) and classmate Jake Kester (Indiana, PA / Indiana) tied for fifth in the pole vault (4.30 m). Junior Josh McFall (New Castle, PA / New Castle) placed 15th (4:44.71) in the 1 mile run and 18th (2:06.72) in the 800. Sophomore Marvin Liberiste (Naples, FL / Lely) (17th/long jump/5.99 m) and senior Matt Slagle (Bruin, PA / Karns City) (19th/3,000 run/10:03.50) earned a top-20 finish in their respective events. Blake Gamble (Wellsboro, PA / Wellsboro) finished 26th in the shot put (11.90 m).
For the women’s team, junior Hailey Hall (Grove City, PA / Grove City Area) finished third in the pole vault (3.56 m), while senior Cassidy Shepherd (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg-Salem) placed fifth (3.41 m). Senior Keilah Ireland (Nashua, NH / Nashua North) earned sixth place in the high jump (1.47 m) and 29th in the 400 (1:07.63). Sophomore Megan Simpson (Washington, PA / Trinity) finished 14th in the 800 (2:30.78). Senior Morgan Widina (Mayfield Heights, OH / Mayfield) placed 22nd in the weight throw (11.00 m) and 15th in the shot put (10.72 m). Junior Paige Baierl (Bellevue, PA / Northgate) added an 18th-place in the 1 mile run (5:55.49).
Westminster will next compete on Friday, February 10 at Baldwin Wallace University’s Mid-February Meet starting at 4 p.m.
