EVANS CITY, Pa–With Halloween just around the corner, one town in Western Pennsylvania has a very unique way of not only celebrating the holiday, but to reconnect with the history and a sub-culture that all started with a bunch of college kids filming of a movie.

In Evans City starting this Friday October 14th  through October 16th, The Living Dead Weekend will bring thousands of people to the small town to celebrate the legacy of the film Night of the Living Dead which was filmed in the town in 1968. Since thescreen-shot-2016-10-12-at-1-07-24-pm creation of the film, the zombie sub-genre has exploded creating a culture around the walking dead.

This three day festival, that started in 2008, is FREE to the public with the exception of a few exclusive events (click here for the complete schedule and for ticket prices for exclusive events) and people are even encouraged to dress up and zombie related events such as:

  • Zombie 101 Crash Coarse
  • Pet Walk of the Dead
  • Movie Location tours
  • Movie Screenings with celebrity commentary
  • The Living Dead Museum
  • and a whole lot more
