NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The top-seeded Westminster College volleyball team lost, 3-0, to third-seeded Bethany College in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship match at home Saturday afternoon.
 
Westminster (30-3) was down for the majority of the first set, however, tied the set twice (19-19, 20-20), before taking its largest lead of the frame (22-20) following block assists courtesy of junior Haley Farmerie (Manor, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) and junior Reilly DeGeorge (Ashtabula, OH / Saint John). The Titans took a 23-21 lead with a DeGeorge kill. Bethany (22-9) responded with a 3-0 run and led 24-23. The set would tie three more times with the last one at 26. Bethany scored two-straight points to take set one 28-26. The Bison led the entire second set (besides being down early, 1-0) and had its largest lead with the winning set score of 25-14. In the third set, Westminster answered from being down 5-2 with a 4-0 run, capped off with a kill by senior Delaney Saxton (Cortland, OH / Brookfield) and led 6-5. Westminster would have two-point leads four times later in the set with the fifth one coming at 21-19 when DeGeorge earned a kill. Bethany, however, orchestrated four-straight points to win the set and the PAC Title with a 25-21 set three win.
 
Saxton had a team-high 15 kills. First-year Maya Steward (Los Angeles, CA / William Howard Taft) and DeGeorge earned eight and seven kills, respectively. Daniels and DeGeorge each had a service ace. Daniels dished out a team-high 19 assists, while first-year Samantha Kelly (Irwin, PA / Penn-Trafford) had 16. Senior Rachel Moore (Greensburg, PA / Greensburg Central Catholic) led the defense as she tied a match-high with 25 digs. Also earning double-digit digs was DeGeorge (21) and senior Mackensie Garris (Meadville, PA / Saegertown) (12). Daniels added nine digs. First-year Becky Adelman (Mogadore, OH / Waterloo) tallied a team-high two blocks.
 
Team selections for the Division III Championship are scheduled to be announced Monday, November 5 at 12:30 p.m. (EST) with an online selection show available at ncaa.com. First round action is slated will get underway Thursday-Friday, November 8-9.
