ALTOONA, Pa. (Titan Athletics)– The Westminster College men’s soccer team remained undefeated after a 4-0 shutout at Penn State Altoona Wednesday evening.

The Titans, who have outscored their opponents 16-1 this year, improved to 3-0 on the year. The Lions fell to 0-3.

At the 26:01 mark of the first half, Westminster junior Ahmed Cisse (Germantown, MD / Clarksburg) scored the first goal after receiving a pass from beyond midfield from senior Shane Fallen (Blue Bell, PA / Wissahickon) and firing it to the far lower 90 off one bounce from just outside the box.

Titan freshman Logan Mannheimer (South Park, PA / South Park) netted his first collegiate goal with less than two minutes remaining in the frame after bending the ball to the far upper 90 from just outside the box. Classmate Adam Saunders (Ellwood City, PA / Riverside) earned the assist.

In the second half, sophomore Nick Iregui (Gig Harbor, WA / Charles Wright Academy) (60:43) and the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week junior Peter Mattocks (Saegertown, PA / Saegertown) (62:55) added a goal apiece within three minutes of each other. Fallen led Iregui with a pass into the box, while freshman Sam Accordino (Canfield, OH / Canfield), the PAC Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week, found Mattocks with a long throw into the box. Mattocks now has a team-high five goals on the year.

Titan senior goalkeeper AJ Bove (New Stanton, PA / Hempfield Area) improved to 3-0 after gathering in two saves in 62:55 minutes of work.

For the game, the Titans outshot the Lions, 20-6, and held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks (5-0 in the second half)

Westminster will next host the University of Mount Union in its home opener Saturday, September 8 at 1 p.m.
