NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.- Parts of Westminster’s campus and sections of New Wilmington went dark on Wednesday night.  Campus officials report the problem with the Borough’s electricity distribution caused scattered blackouts.

On campus the WiFi went out along with the lights.  Students found themselves fumbling around in the dark in McGill Library, Berlin Village, Eichenaur, and Ferguson.  Those students not in their residence halls discovered they were locked out.  The power outages rendered the electronic card readers were useless.

Several students expressed their confusion and frustration about where they could study.  One small group of enterprising students turned lemons into lemonade as they closed their books and staged an impromptu dance party.

Channing Pifer, a senior communications major, pulled out her battery-powered karaoke machine, complete with bright lights, at Berlin Village.  She and her friends turned on the party lights at the townhouse parking lot.  They pumped up the music and danced the night away as a few dozen students danced it out until the power was restored.
