SLIPPERY ROCK TOWNSHIP, Pa.– It’s snowy. It’s icy. It’s cold and it’s beautiful. It’s winter at McConnells Mill State Park in Lawrence County.
McConnells Mills State Park gets plenty of visitors in the spring, summer and fall. However, much of that traffic drops off in the winter.
This time of year the mill itself is sealed shut. The icy waters of the Slippery Rock Creek are too treacherous for kayaking or fishing. But it’s an adventure for the eyes and ears with rushing water, ice formations, and more. Our cameras reveal the frozen wonderland of a Lawrence County treasure that is certainly worth the trip for those willing to brave the cold.
