NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Titan Athletics) – Westminster College women’s lacrosse junior midfielder Margo Mason (Pittsburgh, PA / Chartiers Valley) was recognized nationally by Sports Illustrated in its Faces in the Crowd section in the May 30 issue.

Mason is the first Westminster student-athlete to be featured in Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd in school history.

Mason, who transferred to Westminster to play tennis where she is the No. 1 singles and doubles player, helped Westminster’s women’s lacrosse team to their first Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Title and an NCAA Tournament win in Westminster’s first postseason appearance in her first year of playing collegiate lacrosse. Mason was named the PAC Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Year.

Mason led the PAC in points (124), goals (93), assists (28), and ground balls (103). Mason also ranked top-7 nationally in three major categories. Among NCAA Division III counterparts, Mason ranked second in ground balls per game (6.06), sixth in goals per game (5.65), and seventh in points per game (7.29).

In Westminster’s 20-10 PAC victory over Saint Vincent College, Mason totaled 17 points on 13 goals (both school records) and four assists. Her 17 points and 13 goals were tied for the most in a single game this season among all Divisions. In the Titans’ First Round NCAA Tournament victory over Notre Dame of Maryland University, Mason tied the NCAA Division III Tournament record for goals in a game with 10 goals.

Westminster, in only its third year of existence, concluded the season 15-3 overall and a perfect 7-0 in the PAC, both school records.
