ALLIANCE, Ohio (Titan Athletics)- The Westminster College women’s golf team opened its 2019-20 season with a victory at the Mount Union Fall Invitational held at Tannenhauf Golf Club on Sunday, September 8.
The Titans fired a team score of 341 (+53) to place first out of seven teams at the par-72, 6058-yard layout.
First-year Erika Hoover (New Castle, PA / Wilmington Area) led the way for Westminster, as she fired an 81 (+9) to finish solo-third in the 55-player field in her collegiate debut. First-years Kasey Clifford (Longport, NJ / Ocean City) and Baylee Horvath (Murrysville, PA / Franklin Regional) placed next for Westminster, as they fired rounds of 85 (+13) and 87 (+15), respectively, to finish tied for sixth and tied for 11th in each of their collegiate debuts. Senior Emily Marcus (South Park, PA / South Park) and junior Mariah Hoff (Vienna, OH / Matthews) rounded out the top-five for Westminster, carding scores of 88 (+16) and 99 (+27), respectively.
This marked the second victory in three tournaments dating back to last season for Westminster, as it claimed the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship last spring before competing in the NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship Tournament.  
Westminster will return to the course on Saturday when its travels to Grove City, PA to compete in the Grove City Fall Invitational. Shotgun start is scheduled for 1 p.m.
