NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College women’s lacrosse team won, 20-4, over Alfred University (NY) at home on Friday afternoon.
Titan junior Bria Braddock (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) etched her name in the school’s record book as she broke the points record (14), tied the goals record (11), and broke the ground balls mark (15). All were game-highs. Braddock also had game-highs in caused turnovers (6) and draw controls (9).
The Titans led 14-2 at halftime, eight goals coming from Braddock. Westminster outscored the Saxons, 6-2, in the second half.
Westminster junior Michaela Hays (Blairsville, PA / Blairsville) and senior Emily D’Amico (Moon Township, PA / Moon Area) each had three goals. Also getting on the scoreboard for the Titans were junior Cortlynn Douds (Darlington, PA / Blackhawk), first-year Lexi Radinick (South Fayette, PA / South Fayette) (the first of her collegiate career), and sophomore Marisa Keller (Canonsburg, PA / Canon-McMillan). D’Amico added two assists, while Hays and junior Josie Banks (Winter Garden, FL / West Orange) each had one. Keller added five ground balls, followed by D’Amico (4) and junior Brooke Lyczek (Cranberry Twp, PA / Seneca Valley) (3).
Titan first-year goalkeeper Emma Bradley (South Fayette, PA / South Fayette) earned three saves in the win.
The Titans led in shots (45-13), ground balls (35-21), draw controls (17-5), and free-position shots (4-2).
Westminster improved to 3-1, while Alfred dropped to 0-3 on the season.
The Titans are back in action Saturday, March 23 at Hiram College at 1 p.m.
