DANBURY, Conn (Titan Athletics)- The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its Division III Awards and All-ECAC selections in women’s lacrosse for the 2019 season on Thursday.
Westminster College third-year head coach Kim Eldridge was named the ECAC Coach of the Year, and junior midfielder Margo Mason (Pittsburgh, PA / Chartiers Valley) was named First Team All-ECAC.
Eldridge led the Titans to the inaugural Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship title in only the third year of the program’s existence, setting a program record for wins in a season with 15. After going undefeated in its PAC regular season schedule, Westminster won the PAC Championship with a 15-5 victory over Washington and Jefferson College. The Titans went on to the NCAA tournament and won their first ever NCAA tournament game over Notre Dame of Maryland University by a score of 16-8. Under the guidance of Eldridge, the Titans boasted a program-record seven All-PAC honorees and swept the PAC major awards.
Mason, who also was named the PAC Offensive Player of the Year and the PAC Newcomer of the Year, led the conference in goals (5.65), points (7.29), and ground balls (6.06) – all ranking in the top 10 among Division III counterparts. Nationally, Mason ranked second in ground balls, sixth in goals, and seventh in points. Mason tied a NCAA Division III Tournament record with a game-high 10 goals in Westminster’s NCAA Tournament-opening win over Notre Dame of Maryland. Mason also gathered in a school-record 16 ground balls, the second most in a single Division III game this year and tied for seventh in Division III history.
