PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Titan Athletics) – The Westminster College Women’s Soccer Team defeated the Carlow University Celtics out of the NAIA by a final score of 1-0 on Monday evening at Highmark Stadium.
Westminster improved to 4-2 on the season, while Carlow dropped to 2-4. The Titans have now won three out of four games decided by one goal this season.
Senior midfielder Gabrielle Diamond (Moon Township, PA / Moon Township) tallied the only goal of the contest in the 47th minute to give Westminster a 1-0 lead, a lead it would hold for the rest of the contest.
The Titans and Celtics had 12 shots each, while Westminster edged Carlow in corner kicks (3-1).
Sophomore goalkeeper Camille Holzschuh (Youngstown, OH / Boardman) recorded eight saves, picking up the eighth shutout of her career in the process.
Westminster will return to the pitch next Wednesday, September 18 when it takes on La Roche University inside Harold Burry Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
